Terms of Service

1. The service

Bookkeepmate (“we”, “us”) provides automated bookkeeping software: we import transactions from financial accounts you connect, categorize them into a double-entry ledger, and produce financial reports and summaries. You keep full ownership of your data and are responsible for reviewing the books we prepare.

2. Not accounting, tax or legal advice

We are software, not a CPA firm. Reports, categorizations, tax summaries and set-aside estimates are provided to help you and your tax professional; they are not tax, legal or financial advice and may contain errors. You are responsible for filing accurate returns and for decisions made using the service.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information, keep your password secure, and only connect financial accounts you are authorized to access. You are responsible for activity under your account. One subscription covers one business.

4. Bank connections

Bank data is accessed read-only through Plaid, Inc. under Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy. We never receive your bank credentials and cannot move money. You can disconnect an account at any time from Settings.

5. Subscriptions and billing

Plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. Trials convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal; service continues through the end of the paid period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.

6. Acceptable use

• Do not use the service for unlawful purposes or to launder funds.
• Do not attempt to access other customers’ data or interfere with the service.
• Do not resell the service without written permission.

7. Data export and deletion

You can export your ledger and reports as CSV at any time. On cancellation we retain your data for 90 days so you can export it, then delete it, except where we must keep records by law.

8. Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change features or these terms; material changes will be announced by email at least 14 days in advance.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including penalties, interest or lost profits arising from errors in the books.
