What we collect
- Account data: your name, email address and password hash.
- Business data: business name, entity type, chart of accounts, rules and corrections you make.
- Financial data: account names, balances and transactions from banks you connect through Plaid, and any statements you upload. We receive a Plaid access token, which we store encrypted; we never receive your bank login credentials.
- Billing data: handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, not card numbers.
- Usage data: server logs and activity events (sign-ins, syncs, closes) for security and support.
How we use it
- To keep your books: categorize transactions, maintain the ledger, produce reports and close months.
- To send you service emails: monthly close reports, review digests, password resets and billing notices.
- To categorize transactions we send transaction descriptions, amounts and your chart of accounts to our AI model provider (Anthropic). We do not send bank credentials or account numbers, and we do not use your data to train models.
- To operate, secure and improve the service.
Who we share it with
Only with processors needed to run the service: Plaid (bank connectivity), Stripe (billing), Anthropic (AI categorization), Resend (email), and our hosting and database providers. We do not sell personal data.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Bank access tokens are additionally encrypted with a key held separately from the database. Access is limited to staff who need it to support you.
Retention and your rights
We keep your data while your account is active and for 90 days after cancellation so you can export it. You can export your ledger at any time, disconnect banks from Settings, and request deletion by emailing us. If you are in the EU/UK or California you have additional rights to access, correct and delete your data, which we honor on request.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising trackers.
